Book Review of Unmasking; a story of empowerment and faith🙏🏼

Jody Michele Powers is the daughter-in-law of a long time friend, and she’s an inspiration. I recently read the book she wrote titled, Unmasking, and immediately  I wanted to do a blogpost about her. While looking for more information about Jody I came across her YouTube video and knew that I had to share it, too. The link is below.

Unmasking says that it’s a work of fiction, but the situations that Mandy encounters are ones that anyone can relate to. We all have challenges and disabilities, they just manifest in different ways in different people.

Unmasking begins with the heroine, Mandy, leaving a hospital administrator’s office feeling dejected and confused. She’d approached the woman with an offer to volunteer, only to be told her cerebral palsy might be uncomfortable for patients. What? In this day and age, and with the Americans With Disabilities Act, you wouldn’t think this type of behavior would be going on, but sadly I’m sure that it still does. And Mandy, like so many other people with challenges, didn’t have the resources to fight back.

The story continues by sharing glimpses of Mandy’s past, along with the present, and truly gives you an insight into the life of someone dealing with challenges.

My favorite part of the book is when an upset Mandy goes to the store to buy a box of macaroni and cheese! Now that’s my kind of gal. In my opinion there isn’t much Macaroni and Cheese can’t make better.

Unmasking is available on Lulu and Amazon and I hope you will do yourself the favor of buying and reading this empowering and uplifting story.

Until we read again…đź“š
